Optimize Your Facebook Page + Group

Raise your hand if you have a Facebook page for your business. Raise your other hand if you also have a Facebook group. Are they linked together? It’s a known fact that both Facebook pages and groups serve distinct and important functions for connecting with your target audience, but often business owners don’t use those two platforms in conjunction with each other. Chantel Artnett writes a lovely little blog and tackled this very topic complete with screenshots for those of us who are less than electronically inclined. If you would like to read her full discussion, you may do so at the following link:

How to Link Your Facebook Group To Your Page

If you’d prefer the SparkNotes version; I’ve compiled her recommendations in a step-by-step process below:

1. Click on ‘Settings’ in the upper right hand corner of your Facebook page.

2. Click on ‘Edit Page’.

3. If ‘Use Default Tabs’ is ON, change it to ‘OFF’.

4. Click on ‘Add a Tab’.

5. Click on ‘Add Tab’ to the right of ‘Groups’.

6. ‘Groups’ will disappear from the list of choices. Click ‘Close’.

7. Click and drag a tab name to rearrange the order of the tabs as you prefer.

8. After reordering the tabs as needed, a message appears stating ‘Tab ordering updated!’

9. Now that you’ve added the Groups tab, click on ‘Page’ and then on the ‘Groups’ tab to link your group or groups.

10. Click on ‘Link Your Group’.

11. Click on the ‘Link Group’ button to the right of the group you want to link.

12. Repeat for any additional groups you want to link to your page and then click on ‘Close’.

That’s all there is to it! Again, I highly recommend popping on by her original article to see her exquistely easy side-by-side collection of screenshots if you need more guidance linking your page and group.
