Holiday Stress in August?

How many of you are feeling the stress of the holiday season already? I know, it’s only August 31st, but that means we are only 115 days AWAY from Christmas. That means we are only 84 days until Thanksgiving and a mere 60 days from Halloween! The Mayo Clinic put together this very interesting video (way back in 2008!) regarding holiday stress. It’s actually quite amazing how many decisions we need to make each day. I’d like to invite you to take a few minutes to listen to Dr. Amit Sood from the...

Canadian Postal Ban: August Update

Over the past several months, we have closely watched the back and forth negotiations, or the lack thereof between the Canadian Post and the Canadian Postal Union. On Thursday August 25th the Union issued a 72 hour strike action, but then clarified the statement last evening stating it would only extend to banning overtime for current postal workers. This projected ban was set to start today pending those talks with the Canadian Post. To read more about the initial statement regarding the overtime ban you can...

Word Crimes: Just For Fun Friday

Over on my Pinterest page I dedicate a theme for each day of the week. I find that by scheduling my content around a theme each day it is easier for me and gives my followers a consistent schedule to enjoy. Friday is all about having fun. Monday is for motivation, Tuesday is for writing tips, Wednesday is for empowering women, Thursday is for think tank (marketing tips), Saturday is my seller spotlight, and Sunday concludes with my favorite snacks. While I am not a fan of the original lyrics, this version is spot...

Commitment: Exam Day

Today is the day that I have been training for over the past few years. Today is the day that I sit down and commit to re-licensing as a Physician Assistant. The Physician Assistant Re-certification Examination (PANRE) is a little slice of heaven (haha, joke) that entails 240 questions over the span of four hours. So I’m asking you for a few good thoughts today. I’ll be back to my regular live posting in less than 48 hours. In exchange for your good vibes and patience, I’d like to share with you a motivational...

When You’re Not Good Enough (But You Are)

You may have noticed a bit of a trend in my blog posts over the last two weeks. I’ve talked about confidence, creativity, and basically how to reconcile the fact that you are an artist. What I haven’t talked about yet is doubt. At least, I haven’t talked about it in any significant way. The clock keeps ticking down on that exam for me and I keep wondering, “Am I good enough?” It’s a tough question to answer. It is something that plagues me and I’m quite certain that if...

The New Etsy Blog: A Review

Last month, on July 8th, 2016 Etsy announced the face of the “New Etsy Blog”. Alison Feldman, the Editor in Chief of the Etsy Blog, wrote the inaugural post and in it she detailed some of the changes they made and why they did so. Over the past month we’ve been treated to quite a few good articles and if you aren’t following them (and you are an Etsy seller) I need to ask you one question: Why not? Seriously there is some good stuff in there and it’s a great way to keep your finger on the pulse of Etsy, so to...

Be a Confident Artist

Raise your hand if you struggle with confidence. Raise your hand if you struggle with confidence as an artist? A business owner? Just as I suspected… We all struggle with confidence issues. The 6 Characteristics of Truly Creative People

How do you define creativity? How do you know you are a creative person? What makes you so creative? A lot of creatives often struggle with feeling like they aren’t “good enough” and so they often question their own inherent talent. Throughout my internet travels and scrolling I’ve come across quite a few different inspirational lectures and motivational talks but this particular one stands out to me. Stanford professor Tina Seeling is an amazing public speaker and in this lecture she details the characteristics...

August Holidays & My Holiday

Over the next two weeks I’m going to be on a bit of a holiday. I’m still around, don’t worry about that, but I am preparing to sit for a relicensing exam on August 15th. In addition to being a copywriter I am also a proud Physician Assistant but that means every so often I do need to prove I know what I’m doing. I’m considering the next two weeks a study holiday. To that end I thought it would be fun to schedule my blog posts ahead of time. Today I wanted to kick it all off with a list of a few of my favorite...
