Pantone Color Report: Fall 2016

Listen up all you creatives out there: Pantone has released its Fall Color Report! This report details the trends for hues in all things ranging from weddings, to home décor, to nursery bedding and if properly used can be a great boon for your handmade business.

Leslie Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, wrote:

The desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism have inspired a Fall 2016 color palette that is led by the Blue family.

Along with anchoring earth tones, exuberant pops of vibrant colors also appear throughout the collections. Transcending gender, these unexpectedly vivacious colors in our Fall 2016 palette act as playful but structured departures from your more typical fall shades.

Blue skies represent constancy as they are always above us. Grays give a feeling of stability, Red tones invite confidence and warmth, while the hot Pinkish Purples and Spicy Mustard Yellows suggest a touch of the exotic.

To that end the new colors are as follows:

Riverside (17-4028)

Airy Blue (14-4122)

Sharkskin (17-3914)

Aurora Red (18-1550)

Warm Taupe (16-1318)

Dusty Cedar (18-1630)

Lush Meadow (18-5845)

Spicy Mustard (14-0952)

Potter’s Clay (18-1340)

Bodacious (17-3240)

You can see all the color tabs here but I highly recommend heading over to the Pantone Color Institute to read the rest of the report and get some inspiration for your fall lines. I am partial to Lush Meadow. What is your favorite new Pantone color?

    I like the spicy mustard

  2. 7-29-2016

I love using Pantone to help me decide what colors to knit. Not having to pick through colors and find great patterns that don’t take forever to knit takes a lot of time. Pantone narrows down my choices for me.

  3. 7-29-2016

I’m in love with Aurora red and potters clay. Thanks for the chart!!
